Brian and Angela Fisher knew they had something special with their front porch, and even Hollywood took notice.

The Avondale Estates couple drew inspiration from their grandparents' porches and a neighbor's home in adding a cedar arbor and columns. The arbor, which is often relegated to the back or side of a house, helped enhance the facade and fill out the front porch of the A-frame home, which was used to film CW's "The Vampire Diaries."

“We made the entry a little more of a statement,” Angela said.

The Fishers built their Avondale Estates home in 2013 with four bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths, plus a carriage house with an extra bedroom and bath. In March 2015, the house was used in the CW television show "“The Vampire Diaries," and the autographs of stars Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley can be found on the inside of the family's coat closet.

Red and orange leaves add a splash of fall color to the great room. Homeowners Brian and Angela Fisher used soothing wall colors on the main level to create a sense of calm — something they felt was essential with their three kids and bustling lifestyle. Favorite interior design elements: The blend of modern and traditional furnishings. For example, in the master bedroom, a custom upholstered bed is flanked by traditional nightstands topped with modern drum shade lamps. The family room has a custom carpet in a bold diamond pattern made into a rug, mixed with traditional arm chairs and custom geometric throw pillows on the track arm sofa and modern porcelain table lamps, said Perry Walter, their interior designer.

By keeping the cabinets and countertops light, Avondale Estates homeowners Angela and Brian Fisher, with their interior designer Perry Walter, crafted an open and airy kitchen. The clear pendants over the island add to that effect, while the dark hardwood floors and gray island anchor the room. Text by Lori Johnston and Shannon Adams/Fast Copy News Service.
