A treehouse in Inman Park

A treehouse in Inman Park is home for Kristi Bowers and Rachel Hovington who recently purchased the house. The home, built on a narrow, sloping lot, looks over the treetops.

From the front door, metal stairs lead to the master bedroom where more tall windows let in natural light. Custom-made wood blinds provide privacy when needed.

The unusual design of the treehouse, along with its easy-care exterior and completely wired sound system, made it attractive to Kristi Bowers (left) and Rachel Hovington. "We talked to the architect before we bought it and learned how great it is," Bowers said.

To enter the home, the owners must cross a bridge over the sharply sloping lot.

"We found the architect through a Google search, and he said the idea was to build a house that floats," Bowers recalled. The house was built nine years ago; she and Hovington moved in a couple of weeks ago.

"We're still tweaking things, but I think this will be our den," Bowers said.

Above the bedrooms, a stairway leads to a loft area with more bookcases.

The multi-level Inman Park 'treehouse,' covered completely in galvanized aluminum, sits in the crook of a neighborhood road.
