Scott Antique Market is a savvy shopper's delight

In addition to wearing comfortable walking shoes, Eisner advises shoppers to bring measurements of the space they want to fill, as well as a list of furnishings they're looking for to make the shopping experience more productive.

Eisner also advises shoppers to bring fabric swatches or photos of pieces they're trying to accent. Knowing what you want makes shopping easier. Look for irregularities that show if a piece has been hand-carved, which will have a bearing on price or what you can negotiate.

Laura Iarocci, a floral designer, came with Christine Eisner's group to get an overview of containers and objects for event work. The market will be open May 9-11th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. There's a $5 parking fee at the gate. Laura Iarocci (left) and Roula Elias (center) check out tables with Christine Eisner. The antiques market, which features more than 2,400 vendors, can be an overwhelming shopping experience for first-timers. Eisner leads groups through the market at least six times a year to help them out.

Eisner explains how wallpaper rolls were used in the 1880's to print wallpaper. The Scott Antique Market is held on the second weekend of each month at the Atlanta Expo Center on Jonesboro Road.
