A rug from FLOR centers the living room, which is open to the kitchen and dining area. The living room sofa, ottoman and club chair, from the Ikea Karlstad series. The slipcovers are machine-washable, which comes in handy with one dog and three cats. A carved wood coffee table and side table (not shown) are from West Elm, with stacking side tables from Ikea. Bill Goodman and Karen Goeckel made the bunk bed for their 12-year-old son, Fritz. The top bunk is from Ikea, and the bottom is a queen-sized bed from Karen's parents' house.

In the study, the chair is an Eames reproduction from ModwayFurniture.com. The black leather sofa is from Ikea and the nesting tables are from City Issue. For the drapes, the homeowners used fabric from Ikea and added the stripes. [ Inside Bill Goodman and Karen Goeckel's home ]

The homeowners were inspired by a blue and white bowl from Crate & Barrel for their renovated kitchen's color palette. They selected white cabinets from Ikea, which was cheaper than their original plan for blue upper cabinets. They added blue by using tile backsplash from Specialty Tile in Buckhead's Miami Circle.

Bar stools from Ikea and a ring light fixture from Progressive Lighting bring sleek, yet simple, style to the renovated Inman Park kitchen. Trim Line Construction found the horizontal grain walnut they wanted for the custom bottom kitchen cabinets and to rebuild the window seat. The upper white cabinets are from Ikea. Brittany Richards turned a wicker laundry basket from a Dahlonega antiques shop into a light fixture for her farmhouse kitchen in Cumming. She used a $5 light kit from Ikea.

Homeowner Kristen Yonson's two young boys needed space to play indoors and store their toys. The Yonsons' five-bedroom Milton home features a playroom for Cole and Connor, outfitted with a zinc armoire RH Outlet, a play table from RH, an Ikea sofa and a West Elm rug.

Mid-century waiting room chairs surround an oval Ikea table in Alyssa and Peter Olson's Atlanta home. The chairs were originally in the waiting room of the Olsons' financial advisor, who gave them to the couple.

Dark furniture from American Signature contrasts with the pale gray walls, painted in Sherwin-Williams' Alpaca. For a designer look, the ceilings throughout the home, including the master's tray ceiling, are a shade lighter than the walls, using Sherwin-Williams' Simple White. The mirror is from Ikea. A fixture from Creative Co-op illuminates 11-year-old Emma Catherine Schiltz's room, while black-trimmed draperies from Lorraine and an Ikea rug add a touch of color. A Lucite desk and a Pottery Barn Teen fur chair give the young student a comfortable place to study. [ Inside Randy and Casey Schiltz's home ]

The Schiltz girls have their own space to play and entertain friends in the playroom, which is furnished with pull-apart couches from Wal-Mart and a light fixture from Ikea. [ Inside Randy and Casey Schiltz's home ]

When Alyssa and Peter Olsonmoved into their four-bedroom home, one of the things that appealed to them was the fact that the master bedroom was on the same floor as their young children's rooms. A bed from Ikea and peaceful artwork above create a retreat for the parents, who are expecting their third child this summer.

Craig Cowan and Travis Snyder added an island from Ikea with a custom countertop in the kitchen of their 2004 Union City home. The homeowners also brought in artwork from Etsy to balance the stainless steel appliances and light wood cabinets.

What the family room lacked in its original state, Erin Marshall made up for it with her design choices. She added bookshelves from Ikea on both sides of the fireplace. An oval desk from American Period Furniture in Atlanta centers the home office in the Virginia-Highland home Jo Torrijos shares with her mother Emma. The light-filled room is painted in Sherwin-Williams' Gateway Gray, and features curtains from Ikea and a wingback chair Torrijos found on Craigslist.

The fur rug from Ikea wasn't big enough for the floor, so it added texture and a wintery look to a wood console table in the family room. [ Inside Erin and Julius Marshall Jr.'s home ]

For a makeshift bar area, Erin Marshall gathered a bar decanter from Macy's that was a gift and cups from Dollar Tree, on a tray from Target. A fur rug from Ikea is unexpected and adds more interest to the table in the family room.

The bold home office was the last space Rhoda Vickers renovated in her home. The stencil, by Royal Design Studio and the walls are painted Fennel by Pratt & Lambert (mixed at Sherwin-Williams). The desk if from Target, the light fixture was bought for $5 at a yard sale, the drapes are from Ikea, the console table is from J.C. Penney and the shelves are from Ballard Designs.

The Ikea cabinets were the most expensive item homeowner Rhoda Vickers' kitchen renovation, about half of the total cost of $8,790. The countertops are Kashmir White granite, the pendant light is from Ballard Designs and the sink is a Blanco Silgranit Super Single in metallic gray.
