The front porch of the Craftsman-style home, built in 2013, has spaces for a bright seating niche with rustic flair because of a wooden spool-turned-table.

In the sunroom, industrial wheels added to a wooden spool turned it into a side table next to the daybed. She also attached wood to the metal sconces, which makes them stand out.

The built-ins in the home office have a weathered look, and accessories such as baskets and painted vases that fit with the farmhouse-style interiors.

The two-story living room is decorated with a palette of blues, grays, tans and creams. "I've slowly gone room to room and completely redecorated," Leah Elliott said. The house is on the Woodstock Junior Woman's Club Annual Holiday Tour of Homes on Nov. 10-11.

In the first-floor playroom a long storage unit with baskets is topped with cushions for an instant window seat. Leah Elliott wrapped foam from Joann with outdoor fabric for the cushions, and she and her mom used the stuffing from former couch pillows for the new blue and green pillows.

The dining room chairs are antique with bright turquoise fabric were antique market finds. "I scooped them up," said Leah Elliott.

With stain in a natural wood color and chalk paint, a dining table that belonged to Josh Elliott's grandfather was transformed into a desk for the home office.

Textured details include the basket-shaped light fixture in the sunroom.

A daybed is set up as a sofa in the sunroom, which also serves as a music space with a piano the couple inherited. The daybed was purchased secondhand from an online garage sale.

The custom kitchen table is by Southern Merle Woodworks. The table, which has two pedestal bases and natural wood top, fits with the home's farmhouse-style interior.

Leah Elliott said she likes the clean and crisp elements of farmhouse style. It doesn't require over-the-top decorations, but is a more simple and minimized look, she said.

Painting the originally beige walls Sherwin-Williams' Agreeable Gray warmed up the open living spaces, says homeowner Leah Elliott. The couches were purchased at Woodstock Furniture & Mattress Outlet, and just beyond them, a gray cabinet purchased a consignment shop now holds craft supplies.

The open kitchen has room for both an island with stools, and the custom kitchen table is by Southern Merle Woodworks. Leah Elliott got into DIY projects by making signs before trying other projects. "Start with something simple," she said.

The dining room table was purchased at Nadeau in Marietta, with antique chairs.

Throughout the home, the couple updated the walls with special treatments, such as board and batten in one of their son's bedrooms.

The towel rack in her son's bathroom uses reclaimed wood, iron hooks and industrial pipes.

Josh and Leah Elliott, with their children, Blake, 4, and Gavin, 7, purchased the home in 2013. Josh is a surgical physician assistant and Leah is a social worker.
