Photos: North Atlanta home’s glamorous decor inspired by Hollywood’s ‘golden age’

The Cape Cod-style home in north Atlanta has 6,600 square feet, five bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths. It was built in 1972.

A Jackson Pollock-inspired piece by Bill Nay's mother joins a club chair by Baker from Mathews Furniture + Design in the parlor. The pair of klismos-style gray chairs, by Councill, also are from Mathews Furniture + Design.

A niche with original millwork in the parlor features a photo of the royal chateau in Blois, located in France's Loire Valley.

An antique weathervane originally from a Cape Cod estate was purchased at Scott Antique Market.

A wall gallery twists up the staircase in the north Atlanta home. The photos have different individuals and subjects, such as actors Clark Gable and Audrey Hepburn, magazine covers and antique photos of Native Americans by Edward Curtis, but the black frames give it a cohesive look.

A red Hermes tea and coffee pot and matching set adds a spot of color in the parlor.

"Prismatic Poise" by Chris Denovan along with a gazelle mount, named Charlie, overlooks the den. "We got so inspired by the architecture and design and art in South Africa that we came back and redesigned the entire room," Laura Nay said. "It honestly was kind of centered around that piece of art." The sofa and the antique Chippendale hutch were purchased from Acquisitions.

The "blue-and-white room" showcases Hollywood regency style with the pagoda cabinet, geometric marble and brass legged coffee table from Wayfair, and details such as cheetah print lumbar pillows.

A pagoda cabinet by Drexel is filled with blue-and-white ginger jars, which Laura Nay has collected for six years. "It's constantly evolving," Laura said. She mixes reproductions and antiques and hunts for them at Scott Antique Market, antique stores, estate sales and online auctions.

The Regency chandelier by Joe Nye from Circa Lighting in antique brass hangs from the dining room ceiling covered with Bradbury & Bradbury "Persian Star" wallpaper and an original circle medallion that was painted.

A freestanding tub and Carrara marble floors in a herringbone pattern were added in the renovations.

The master bath went through a total renovation by DMC Home Improvement. It features a freestanding tub, shower and heated Carrara marble herringbone floors. The chandelier is from Circa Lighting.

A custom headboard in muted aqua and pillows from Nandina Home & Design decorate the bed with bedding from Peacock Alley. Mirrored dressers bring shine into the master bedroom.

A longhorn skull, which they call "Gus,"shows the homeowners' fondness for a certain area of the country, even though they found the piece at Scott Antique Market in Atlanta.

The sitting room is filled with designer pieces, including a sofa from Caracole and coffee table by Theodore Alexander from Mathews Furniture + Design.

Laura and Bill Nay's dining room shines with gold accents along the millwork and starry Bradbury & Bradbury wallpaper on the ceiling.

A painting in the den is inspired by Robben Island, a leper colony off the coast of Africa. Homeowners Laura and Bill Nay purchased the painting while in South Africa.

A leather ottoman from RH doubles as a coffee table and holds a tessellated mother of pearl tray from HomeGoods. Roses bloom in orb vases.

Some of the pillows are conversation starters. The center pillow, from their trip to South Africa, features an image of a taxidermy studio.

Laura Nay, owner of Laura Nay Interiors, moved into her Atlanta home with her husband, Bill, in 2013. Mia, a friend's Maltese papillon mix, often visits.
