Photos: Marietta family’s renovated Craftsman has extra room for entertaining

Chris and Jill Bartlett’s holiday entertaining will take on a different look this year.

Designer Linda Castle of Decorated Designs helped the homeowners select the swivel club chairs, sofas and ottoman from Fairfield for their updated family room. It's open to the stairwell, which also was freshened up in the renovations.

The hardwoods were stained in a dark walnut, which contrasts with the white shiplap and bookshelves. The fireplace facade also was updated with patterned tile in the first floor redo.

The decisions about the renovations focused on how the family would enjoy the space and spend time together.

The new sitting area features gray chairs from Fairfield that were appealing because of their sleek shape but soft suede fabric, said homeowner Jill Bartlett.

The homeowners, working with designer Linda Castle, mixed furniture and accessories with distressed woods with clean-lined and crisp white pieces for their transitional look.

The new backsplash is a ceramic tile, from The Tile Shop in Marietta, that is installed in a herringbone pattern. The perimeter countertops are Silestone cemento.

A round dining table and chairs, from Bramble, are nestled into the breakfast nook of the redesigned kitchen.

The homeowners' new dining room is larger than their previous space and opens to the sitting area that previously was their dining room. The table and sideboard are from Hooker while the chairs at both ends are from Fairfield.

Equestrian ribbons in Aubrie Bartlett's room are a colorful adornment to a chicken wire bulletin board.

Aubrie Bartlett's room is personalized with pink and green accessories and artwork that shows a love of horses.

The Cobb County home has six bedrooms, six-and-a-half baths and 4,800 square feet. It was built in 2003.

The renovations created more areas on the main floor for entertaining, and the family also can use their deck to entertain. "The genesis around going through a remodel has so much to do with loving where you live," said Chris Bartlett.
