Photos: Home gets new art-filled look

The couple renovated the home, completely remodeling the mother-in-law suite to create a spacious master suite and renovating the upstairs sitting area and bedroom to suit their needs.

Mark Taylor and Melinda Matthews’ back deck is ideal for entertaining. They worked with Butcher’s Landscape & Services and Su-Tree Service to landscape their lawn when they purchased the home in 2017. After buying their Cobb County home in 2017 Melinda Matthews and Mark Taylor renovated the home, restoring some original hardwoods, remodeling the mother-in-law suite that was added to the home in 2006 to create a spacious master suite and renovating the upstairs sitting area and bedroom to suit their needs. The guest bathroom of Mark Taylor and Melinda Matthews’ home is full of charming details, like the antique handles and drawer pulls on the new Avanity Brentwood vanity, which the couple purchased from Eugenia’s Antique Hardware and Anthropologie. Installing a folding shoji screen from Cherry Tree Design was the perfect solution to make Melinda Matthews and Mark Taylor’s master suite flow. Without the screen anyone walking into the back of the house would feel as though they were traipsing through the couple’s bedroom, but the screen allows them to entertain guests or pass through to the backyard while keeping their bedroom space private if they so desire.
