Photos: Couple creates fun, functional outdoor space

When Nancy and Gene Hooff purchased their Atlanta home in 1995 the backyard was full of bamboo, but they saw how much potential it had to be a stunning outdoor living space.

Nancy and Gene Hooff worked with William B. Litchfield Residential Designs Inc. to design their pool cabana, which has a wood burning fireplace, TV and seating from Sutherland Furniture. The sectional sofa in Nancy Hooff’s sunroom that she recently purchased from Corn Upholstery Company is her current favorite piece of furniture. In front of the sectional is a pine chest that Nancy has had for years and decided to repurpose as a coffee table in this space, and on the ground is a colorful rug from Kilim Collection. In the entrance hall of Nancy and Gene Hooff’s Atlanta home, they have a console table from Boxwoods Gardens & Gifts against a black and white tile that the couple put in when they renovated around 2000. Gene and Nancy Hooff bought their cottage home in Fulton County in 1995. In 1999 they renovated the master suite and kitchen, and eventually they also renovated the upstairs bedrooms and the sunroom. The master bedroom of Nancy and Gene Hooff’s home is chic and open, with high ceilings and a clean, neutral color palette. A custom headboard, made by Barter & Galambos from some wooden architectural detail pieces that Nancy used to have hung horizontally above the bed, centers the room, while a curtain rod and art hanger by Smith Ironworks Inc. dominates the wall around the window.
