PHOTOS: Converted Cabbagetown loft becomes artist’s hip haven

The Stacks, a former cotton mill that dates to the late 19th century, was converted to lofts in 1997. It's in Atlanta's Cabbagetown community.

Light filters in through the windows and onto original artwork in the Cabbagetown loft, which has exposed brick walls. The lake painting is by homeowner Andrea Costa, who is represented by Huff Harrington Fine Art, and is participating in Spotlight on Art at Trinity School from Jan. 29-Feb. 3. Upstairs, a guest bedroom is surrounded by vintage industrial architectural elements, such as the wood plank ceilings, exposed ductwork and brick walls. The bedding is from Matteo.

A box with the homeowner's initial and desk were selected by friend and interior designer, Kat Nelson, while the white ceramic vase is among the items from Thrive and Design.

Accessories with carved details include a French molding wine holder, which is from Thrive and Design.

The sofa and coffee table are from Gregory Joseph Designs/Westside Market.

Gray and cream tones run throughout the 13,000-square-foot Atlanta loft with exposed brick walls. Costa said she wanted a quiet palette in the ethereal loft.

Open kitchen shelves display china while the ceramic tile backsplash fits with the vintage industrial design of the Atlanta loft in a building dating to the 1880s.
