Owner of Sister Louisa’s Church fills his home with designer pieces

With about 4,000 square feet, three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths, Henry's modern home in the Sager Lofts is clean and bright. The building was constructed in 2005 by Tecton, and Henry bought his home in 2015.

Two white Eames lounge chairs and ottomans, from Herman Miller, are Henry's favorite furniture pieces. Although he decorates with original art and sculpture, houseplants also are part of the decor. "There's so many windows that all the plants just flourish," he said.

"The biggest comments I get probably beside the furniture is my artwork. I have a great art collection," Henry said. "The whole thing together really works well." T

Henry's art collection includes a black-and-white painting by Alabama artist Thomas Cook in the upstairs home office.

Henry's art also includes sculpture in dominant spaces. Sliding glass doors lead to the balcony.

Henry's art collections dot his classic modern white deco-style loft, including this colorful group of 60 comedy-tragedy masks. "They're beautiful," he said.

Orange chairs pop against the gray rug that anchors the dining room table. The rug, a custom piece from Myers Carpet of Atlanta, adds a touch of softness to balance the clean, white lines created by the epoxied floors, and painted concrete walls and ceilings.

In the dining room, Henry chose a 78-inch oval table by Florence Knoll, one of his favorite designers, as the centerpiece. He bought the vintage piece, one of seven tables in his home, at City Issue in Poncey Highlands.

A collection of 1950s carafes lines the top of a midcentury credenza. "My favorite dish collection is by Russel Wright, the Iroquois Casual China Collection, which our family used back in my childhood," Henry said.

Light wood cabinets add warmth to the modern kitchen and break the all-white motif found in the rest of the home. Another seating area and a large island with ample display space for his collections make the kitchen comfortable and inviting. The light fixtures are from the Lighting Loft.

Spun fiberglass orbs from the Lighting Loft illuminate the colorful collections of pots, kettles and containers in the kitchen. All of Henry's kitchen collections are by Danish designer Jens Quistgaard and manufactured by Dansk.

Over the years, Henry has amassed many collections, from vibrant kettles and pots to model planes and comedy-tragedy masks. "When I do a collection of art, I only do it to fill the space. So it doesn't look like a hoarder house at all," said Henry, who sells a completed collection only if he's moving or upgrading to a better one.

Like the sofa found in his living room, the loveseat in Henry's bedroom is a Florence Knoll design. In the master bedroom, the loveseat carves out a sitting area that has a casual midcentury style.

The open master bedroom is spacious enough to feature a separate sitting area, as well as a dining table and chairs. Throughout the home, Henry effortlessly blends an eclectic mix of colorful and clean modern pieces into a modern art deco style all his own.

The guest bedroom upstairs continues the modern art deco style. Grant Henry echoed the warmer wood flooring found in the master bedroom to create an inviting space filled with bright colors.

Henry has access to this yard, owned and maintained by Sager Lofts, where he gardens and plays with his grandkids. He often drinks coffee on his end-unit porch overlooking the yard.

A tall, 1960s three-piece screen, made of steel and glass, separates the patio from the street. The colorful screen is one of the homeowner's favorite art pieces.

Grant Henry, owner of Sister Louisa's Church of The Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium in Atlanta, Sister Louisa's Church (It's a Glory Hole!) in Athens, and the online Sister Louisa's Church Murch, bought his 4,000-square-foot home in the Old Fourth Ward's Sager Lofts in 2015.
