The homeowner wanted to refresh the room, which had not had any updates since the 1980s. "It's an estate with lots of antiques so we kept it classic," said Tinkler. STYLE: Classic Southern. "Our most difficult challenge was to update the window treatment to enhance the size and shape of the window, as well as the design of the room," Tinkler said. "We had to think about how to make it a focal point which we did with the cornice." REDESIGN TIME: Three months.

The wrought iron railing was the basis for the design on the silk cornice, Tinkler said. Above the fireplace is an antique mirror. The cocktail table is by Hickory Chair. MOST EXPENSIVE ITEM: The linen velvet camelback sofa that serves as a secondary focal point.
