The homeowners of this Laurel Springs home in Forsyth County wanted to bring an English feel to their family room. They called on Mical Traynor and Tracy Theisen of Design for the Ages for the transformation, which also included the kitchen, dining room and foyer.

WHAT THE HOMEOWNER WANTED: Having lived in England for several years, the owners of this Laurel Springs home in Forsyth County wanted to bring their beloved country's feel to their family room. They called on Mical Traynor and Tracy Theisen of Design for the Ages for the transformation, which also included the kitchen, dining room and foyer.

PROJECT COMPLETION TIME: Four months. Traynor and Theisen began designing the space in February, while contractor Scott Carver of Stonecraft Builders in Atlanta began working in the home in April. The entire project was completed in early June.

PROJECT GOAL: Warm, inviting, and comfortable, Traynor said. "The homeowner truly had a vision of what she wanted this to be," she said, echoing their desire to bring the lodgy, rustic feel of England to their Forsyth County home. DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: "I just like to give them what they want," Traynor said simply. "Listening is probably the biggest thing when working with the client.

BIGGEST SPLURGE: The custom stone fireplace by Stonecraft Builders, roughly $8,000. BEST FEATURE: The completed look of the fireplace with new custom drapery with newly darkened trim. "The owner described (the drapery) as majestic," Traynor said. ESTIMATED COST: From the fireplace to drapery to furniture, Traynor estimates this family room redo at about $15,000.
