We are already well into 2015 and I am still trying to get organized. I discovered frames in the craft store for half off and realized it is possible to buy or reuse a large picture frame to help me in this process.
If the frame you are using has glass covering the picture area, you can remove it. Then cut a section of chicken wire (wear gloves and use wire snips) that is a little larger than the frame opening and attach it to the back of the frame. You can fasten it to the frame with a staple gun if the frame is wood. If the frame is not made of wood you can always use duct tape to secure the wire to the back.
Once the chicken wire is attached to the frame, it is perfect for holding decorative items for a unique display or as a bulletin board to hold notes, bills or anything you need to see in order to remember to do.
I created “hearty” tags I intend to use for everything from gift tags to heartfelt thank you notes. I attached them to the chicken wire with clothespins, making it easy to see all of my choices and enjoy a colorful display in the process. Some of my clothespins are painted, some are covered with washi tape, and some remain natural.
My tags are embellished with:
Vellum flowers
Hearts decorated with buttons
Rhinestone sticker hearts
Metal hearts hung with embroidery thread
Alphabet beads strung with embroidery thread
Chunks of patterned paper with the die cut hearts dropped out
Heartfelt messages that I handwrote, printed or rubbed on with a wooden stick
When I’m making multiple items, like these tags, it’s helpful to hang them up as I make them so I can see, at a glance, all of my options. Once I send these off in the mail as thank you cards or attached to gifts, I will have an entirely new blank frame to fill with something else that needs organizing.
