The Elf on the Shelf gets a Hollywood makeover.

Eric Erickson, a resident of Atlanta's Virginia-Highland neighborhood, dressed up his dog before he had the idea to give Elf on the Shelf the pop-culture treatment. It started with 12 TV shows last year and became 12 days of movies for Christmas 2015. Day 1 was "Titanic."

Here, the elves take a personal day as a tribute to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" for Day 2 of the 12-day series. Each picture, including costumes and sets, took a couple of hours each night to do, Erickson said.

Day 3: "Pretty Woman" | Erickson does crafting and scrapbooking in his free time, which is where he got the materials from.

Day 4: "The Seven Year Itch" | Erickson said he focused on movies with specific themes for this year's series. There had to be "something about them that would make it obvious what it was," he said.

Day 5: "Harry Potter" | Erickson called the project, which he completed after work every night, a "creative outlet" for himself.

Day 9: "Mary Poppins" | There are no "Star Wars" elves in this year's series. "I figured there was so much going on with 'Star Wars' I didn't want to be predictable," Erickson said.

Day 10: "Ghostbusters" | "Things got messy with our Elves on the Shelf today," Erickson captioned this photo on Instagram.

Day 8: "Sound of Music" | Erickson called this "the mother superior of all classic movies" on Instagram.

Day 9: "Forrest Gump" | Erickson used three different elves in rotation for his series this year.

Day 10: "Goonies" | Erickson called this one of his favorite movies. "I couldn't not do that one," he said.

Day 11: "Raiders of the Lost Ark" | Here, Erickson shares an exclusive of the the next movie in his 12 Days of Elf on the Shelf in movies series. "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is one of his favorite movies in addition to "Goonies," he said.
