Police officers for the cities of Alpharetta and Milton gathered Tuesday to participate in the "Shop with a Cop" program benefiting local children in need.

The officers, along with several area firefighters, met at Wal-Mart at 5200 Windward Parkway in Alpharetta to purchase gifts totaling $100 each for 124 children. Additionally, staff members will deliver 52 dinners to needy families on Saturday morning.

The programs were put together by the Alpharetta PAL (Police Athletic League). For more information about PAL, visit www.alphapal.org.
