For the 43rd consecutive year, Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless served meals on Thanksgiving, with food prepared at the Dekalb county Jail, and served at the Georgia World Congress Center. Their website calls it "the nation's largest sit-down dinner for the homeless and hungry." Other services included showers, clothing, barber and salon services, medical care and legal aid. The line for the meal wrapped around the Georgia World Congress Center before it officially began at 10 a.m. Organizers said they expected to prepare more than 10,000 meals, some of which would be home-delivered, with more than 6,000 served at the Congress Center. Hundreds of volunteers spent the night before Thanksgiving preparing the meals.
