Archbishop Wilton Gregory, seen in a February 2013 photo, had surgery for prostate cancer in 2007.

Actor Dennis Hopper died in May 2010 at the age of 74, due to complications from prostate cancer. Hopper had been diagnosed with advanced stages of cancer in October 2009.

Country musician Eddie Montgomery, one half of the duo Montgomery Gentry, said in 2010 that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The legendary civil and human rights pioneer Reverend Dr. Joseph E. Lowery has survived prostate cancer, throat surgery, and Jim Crow. He turned 90 in 2011.

Andrew Young, a a prostate cancer survivor and the former United Nations ambassador and Atlanta mayor, announced in November 1999 that he had early-stage prostate cancer.

Clark Howard was initially diagnosed at 53 with early stage prostate cancer. At 56 he reports that a recent analysis of 12 samples taken in Los Angeles at Cedars-Sinai during his annual biopsy showed no cancer whatsoever.

Berkshire Hathaway Chief Executive Warren Buffett, the country's second richest man, explained to stock holders in a April 17, 2012, letter that he has stage 1 prostate cancer. The 81-year-old indicated his condition "is not remotely life-threatening or even debilitating in any meaningful way."
