An injection designed to melt double-chin fat has been approved by the  Food and Drug Administration.

The FDA approved a drug called Kybella Wednesday for adults with moderate or extreme chin fat. 
The drug is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a chemical the body naturally produces that helps absorb fat.

More popular and trending stories

Patients may get as many as 50 injections at once, with treatments one month apart, and it is recommended that a patient get no more than six injection, in all.

The drug will be available in the second half of this year.

The drug is already approved for ales in other countries, including Australia, Canada and Switzerland.
