Thousands of metro Atlantans will soon run, walk and swing to beat cancer.
If you want to help cancer research, raise awareness or help find a cure, there are several events scheduled through October.
Cancer is one of the leading killers of U.S. residents.
In 2015, an estimated 1,658,370 new cancer cases will be diagnosed and 589,430 people will die of the disease in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society.
Here’s what you can do to help:
The Governors Towne Club will host tennis round robin matches for ladies’ doubles, mixed doubles, juniors’ doubles and men’s doubles on Aug. 14-15 at 4200 Governors Towne Drive in Acworth. Women who register for the breast cancer fundraiser Aug. 14 ladies’ doubles morning session can also attend the Ladies’ Luncheon featuring Carletta Cunningham, a breast cancer survivor. The luncheon requires a paid ticket regardless of playing in the tournament or being a spectator, so it’s $40 for player plus $25 for luncheon; $20 for spectator plus $25 for luncheon.
