If you’ve been mixing up mocktails while sheltering in place, here is your chance to make your favorite recipe an award winner.
The Forsyth County nonprofit, The Connection, is hosting a first-of-its-kind mocktail (meaning, alcohol-free concoctions) contest and all are welcome to join in on the fun.
The Boujee Bev Summer Drinks Recipe Contest came to be, because The Connection, an addiction recovery support center, noticed a lack of fun, summery drinks made without alcohol.
“It’s summertime in the South. For people in recovery from substance use disorder, it’s challenging to find beverages that quench summer thirst that also are refreshing, fancy, and most importantly, alcohol free,” the Cumming nonprofit notes on its website.
The hope is that by spreading recipes that more exciting mocktails options will become the norm.
“We envision Boujee Bevs first made and served in homes and restaurants, starting in our home of Forsyth County, Georgia ... and then spreading across the country,” the nonprofit wrote in an Instagram post.
The contest is open through July 26. Entries should fall under one of the two main categories: fruity/frozen or coffee/tea.
“We are creating a whole new category of hand-crafted, alcohol free beverages,” Bill Whitney, director of The Connection, said in a statement.
