More than 50 historic homes and buildings will be open for self-guided tours during the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation's Spring Ramble in Acworth, Kennesaw and Marietta.

The annual event, which will be held April 22 through April 24, gives history buffs and the curious-minded a chance to visit homes and buildings that are usually closed to the public.

Among the stops are Trammell House, home of decorated Confederate army captain and state senator Newt Trammell and the Howell-Sessions House, which was built by Archibald Howell who is said to have been the richest man in Cobb County before the Civil War.

The tour also includes dining experiences held at historic sites throughout the weekend. On Friday night, for instance, ‘Ramblers’ will dine at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History with “The General”, a steam locomotive made famous during the Great Locomotive Chase.

Various registration options are available. Prices range from $40 to $260. Student tickets start at $20.

Proceeds benefit the Georgia Trust.
