Stewart County court minutes
The Superior Court minutes of any Georgia county are rich with information about early residents and thus are a goldmine for genealogists.
“Stewart County, Georgia, Superior Court Minutes, 1829-1834,” abstracted by Lee G. Barrow, recently was published with a grant from the R.J. Taylor Jr. Foundation.
This book is a great source for the five years covered. If you have never understood what information is available from Georgia Superior Court minutes, you should look through this volume, which includes a full-name index.
The book is available for $13.45 plus $3.50 postage from Lee G. Barrow, 4071 Ada Creek Drive, Gainesville, GA 30506 or via PayPal at www.bargraphica.com. He has published other genealogy books for South Carolina and Georgia.
Website is a great source
The USGenWeb site is free and includes a genealogy page for every county in the United States. Go to www.usgenweb.org and then to your state.
If you look under Georgia, note that some counties need coordinators. Maybe you could be the one to take charge? Some county sites are better than others, but each is worth checking.
