Now that “Dumb and Dumber To” is done in Marietta, it’s time for “Night at the Museum.”

The 2013 Marietta Pilgrimage Tour of Homes Gala is planned for Dec. 6 at the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art, just off the downtown Square where Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels recently worked on scenes for the upcoming Farrelly brothers comedy. If they were going to be in town, we're positive they'd zoom on back in their street-ready Zamboni, but during an interview the other day, Carrey told us they'd be wrapping up this month.

Incidentally, "Night at the Museum" star Ben Stiller, whose next film "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" comes out on Christmas, starred in 2012's "The Watch," which also filmed on the Marietta Square. We interviewed him while he was in town, too, but chances are he won't be around for the gala, either.

It should be a grand event, even if the stars aren’t able to make it.

"The Marietta Pilgrimage Gala gives us all a chance to celebrate our town's history and heritage and catch up with friends at the very beginning of the holiday season," said Gala Chair Lori Weaver. "It's the perfect way to get ready for the Pilgrimage tour."

The black-tie gala starts at 7:30 p.m., with a special champagne reception for host committee patrons beginning at 6:30 p.m. Patrons receive choice reserved parking spots and recognition on signage at the event. Patron tickets are $125 each or $250 per couple and are available at the Marietta Welcome Center or online at www.mariettapilgrimage.com/preview-party.html.

Host committee members include Angela and Clif Poston, Dawn and Alex Koutouzis, Angie and Andrew Konop, Elizabeth and Greg Nesmith, Terri and Jim Guthrie, Becky and Bill Paden, Linda Flournoy, Claire and Ron Francis, Cathy and Chris Brown, Terri and Steve Cole, Lyric Resmondo and Jay Garten, Holly Walquist and Bruce Hamilton, Ann and Jerry Mann, Jennifer and Jonathan Tucker, Jean Alice and Marietta Mayor Steve "Thunder" Tumlin, Amanda and Ben Persons and Kelly and Chuck Bachman.

“Chuck and I always look forward to the Marietta Pilgrimage Gala,” Kelly Bachman said. “We love to celebrate our town and all its history at our favorite time of the year.”

The gala launches the annual home tour, held Dec. 7 and 8 and featuring a number of historic private homes and public buildings. See full details at www.mariettapilgrimage.com.
