If your eyes glaze over at the thought of fried circles of dough, this poll isn’t for you.

If, however, you have a hole in your very center that can be filled only with a fresh, frosted, sprinkled or stuffed doughnut, then you’ve come to the right place.

The doughnut is no longer just a breakfast treat. Doughnuts are now filled with chocolate, custard and cream. They are topped with everything from a simple glaze to Fruity Pebbles cereal to maple and bacon.

So, with National Doughnut Day fast approaching (June 7), we want to know who in Atlanta makes the best doughnuts.

If you don't see your favorite spot here, you can send your write-in nomination to us by emailing Stephanie Toone at stephanie.toone@ajc.com. If enough people send us a nominee, we'll add it to the poll.

While you ponder which one — or dozen — makes your mouth water, check out these recipes for doughnuts you can make at home.

Also, check out which "circles of puffy yeast dough" satisfy  AJC contributor Wendell Brock.

Looking for a new brunch spot? These are dishes you voted as being the Best of Atlanta.

Make sure you check out all the places to eat you've chosen as Best of Atlanta.
