Two Atlanta restaurants win at Thrillist’s first fast food awards

Chick-fil-A and Arby’s each brought home a Fastie, but in which categories might surprise you

Thrillist announced the winners of its first "Fasties."

This awards season is much like all the others, with Atlanta having a connection in many categories.

For example, Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A was nominated in eight categories, and Arby’s was in the running for one prize.

These aren’t the Oscars or even the Emmys. These are the first Fasties, Thrillist’s new fast food awards. And both Chick-fil-A and Arby’s now own a trophy.

The winners were announced at noon Wednesday on Thrillist's YouTube channel and on Thrillist.com.

Chick-fil-A’s chicken biscuit captured the trophy for best breakfast sandwich, beating Subway’s bacon, egg and cheese; Wendy’s breakfast baconator; Taco Bell’s breakfast crunchwrap with bacon; and McDonald’s bacon, egg and cheese McGriddle.

Arby’s curly fries were named the best fries, beating McDonald’s fries, Chick-fil-A’s waffle fries, Taco Bell’s nacho fries and Checkers/Rally’s famous seasoned fries.

A lifetime achievement award was presented to ketchup, and the MVP (most valuable pickle) went to the one on Popeyes chicken sandwich.

The ceremony was held at New York City's SubCulture and hosted by David So and Tim DeLaGhetto of Thrillist's Send Foodz. They presented golden burger trophies to the winners of each category.
