More portable Jif
We already had Jif to Go, peanut butter in 1 1/2-ounce tubs. Of course that product costs more per ounce than Jif in 16-ounce jars. (At one discount supermarket, the 8-pack of 1 1/2-ounce tubs costs $2.69 — 22 cents an ounce; at that store the 16-ounce jar of Jif costs $2.79 — 17 cents an ounce.)
Now there’s Jif to Go Dippers, a wrapped-together 1.69-ounce pair of tubs: One contains 10 thin discs of pretzel weighing a bit more than half an ounce total; the other tub holds peanut butter that Mr. Tidbit estimates at 1.1 ounces. At the same store, this product costs $1.39. If you count 10 dippers at a more-than-generous nickel apiece, that means the peanut butter is 89 cents — a startling 81 cents an ounce!
More hazelnut Jif
We already had chocolate and mocha cappuccino flavors of Jif hazelnut spread. Now there’s Jif hazelnut spread in salted caramel flavor. (You wouldn’t know it from the name, but there’s still cocoa in that new flavor.) Mr. Tidbit notes that Jif seems to have missed the trendiness boat by not making it Greek yogurt sea-salted caramel hazelnut spread.
More Nutella
Nutella, the original hazelnut-cocoa spread, already offered us Nutella & Go! — a 1.8-ounce little package ($1.49 at the same store) much like Jif to Go Dippers, but with 10 little breadsticks instead of pretzel disks. At that store, the 13-ounce jar of Nutella costs $3.49, 27 cents an ounce. If the approximately 1/2 ounce of breadsticks costs 50 cents, the remaining 1.3 ounces of Nutella in Nutella & Go! costs 99 cents — a mere 76 cents an ounce.
But what if the occasion for a little bit of Nutella doesn’t call for breadsticks? That’s why there’s new Nutella Mini Cups — a 10-pack of little 0.52-ounce tubs of just Nutella. At the same store, that’s $3.49 — a steal at 67 cents an ounce.
More Hershey’s Spread
Hershey Spreads Snacksters is a two-compartment 1.8-ounce package with nine graham sticks totaling 0.4 ounces, costing $1.69 at that store. The 13-ounce jar of Hershey’s Spread is $3.39 there — 26 cents an ounce. If these dippers are the same generous 5 cents each, Snacksters’ 1.4 ounces of Hershey’s Spread costs $1.24 — 89 cents an ounce!
