Beer of the Week: Cali Creamin' — a vanilla cream ale from Mother Earth Brew Co.

Story: Based in Vista, Calif., Mother Earth hasn't stopped growing or getting better since it started brewing in 2008. Look for the brewery's strong lineup, including Boo Koo IPA and this week's pick, Cali Creamin'.

Cream ales are sort of the ale offshoot of light lagers, meaning they’re good “gateway” craft beers for folks accustomed to Bud Light and Corona. Mother Earth adds some flaked corn and vanilla beans to give Cali Creamin’ its unique cream-soda flavor. At just 5.2 percent alcohol by volume, it’s dangerously drinkable.

Price: $8 for a 22-ounce bottle, available at Total Wine & More.
