Things to Do
Flashback photos: 35 years ago, Atlanta and Georgia in 1985, Part 1
In 1985, New Coke was a thing. Not necessarily a popular thing, but it happened. Much more popular was Prince, fresh from his triumphant film debut in “Purple Rain” and the massive hit album that went with it. He and his band played the Omni in January. 1985 was also the year that the wrecking ball came for the Pershing Point Apartments on Peachtree Street. It was the end of an era for many residents.
