Flashback photos: Atlanta buildings and streetscapes of the 1970s
It was a decade of major changes in Atlanta’s infrastructure. MARTA construction was under way, and the Omni, which was supplanted by Philips Arena (now State Farm Arena), was built. Terminal Station, the city’s transportation hub since 1905, closed down in 1970 and met the wrecking ball in 1972. The famous Loew’s Grand Theatre was the victim of fire. Take a look back at Atlanta as it was in the 1970s.
