Georgia Oscar winner Joanne Woodward. Born in Thomasville, Georgia, on February 27, 1930, actress Joanne Woodward garnered the Best Actress Oscar in 1957 for her performance in "The Three Faces of Eve." She grew up in Marietta, attending part of high school there.

Woodward lived in her south Georgia town of birth, Thomasville, until she was in the second grade.

Woodward attended Marietta High School and has been an active booster for the school as well as the historic Strand Theater in downtown Marietta.

In 1997, Joanne Woodward's dress from the movie 'The Three Faces of Eve' was part of the exhibit 'The Southern Woman: The Clothes She Wore, the Lives She Led'.

Though they first met in 1953, it wasn't until Woodward and Newman co-starred in the 1957 film "The Long, Hot Summer" that the pair reconnected. They married in 1958.

1997 -- Linda Schnurr, curator of the Marietta Museum of History, shows off the dress actress Joanne Woodward wore in the 1957 movie 'The Three Faces of Eve.'

Woodward was Newman's second wife and the couple enjoyed a 50-year marriage until Newman's death in 2008. The pair lived well away from Hollywood, settling in Westport, Connecticut, where Woodward still lives.

Woodward played a woman of three distinct personalities in 'The Three Faces of Eve,' based on the real medical journal report. As 'Eve White,' (left), she is quiet and melancholy, with amnesia; at times she becomes 'Eve Black,' (center) of whom her earlier personality does not approve, and as 'Jane,' (right) she is cultured.

Woodward sits next to actor David Niven in this 1955 photo. After appearing on numerous television dramas and playhouse programs in the early '50s, she made two feature films -- "Count Three and Pray" (1955) and "A Kiss Before Dying" (1956).

As a teenager, Joanne Woodward won several beauty contests. She was a drama major at Louisiana State University.

Woodward's family moved from Marietta to South Carolina, where she graduated from Greenville High School.

The Woodward family moved to Marietta and nine-year-old Joanne and her mother attended the 1939 Loew's Grand premiere of "Gone With The Wind" in Atlanta.

Newlyweds Woodward and Paul Newman make their entrance at the 1958 Academy Awards ceremony. Woodward took home the Best Actress Oscar for "The Three Faces of Eve," which was only her third feature film.

Woodward married her co-star in "The Long, Hot Summer," Paul Newman, in 1958. The pair went on to star in 10 films together.
