Things to Do
Urban Couture at Grady High School
Grady High School's fashion program Urban Couture celebrates its fifth anniversary. The student-led, self-sustaining fashion line was created by the school's 2007 teacher of the year Vincent Martinez and will be the focus of a yet-to-be-announced MTV reality show called Fashion High.

![Martinez meets with his students. "You would think, how can they fall asleep in fashion, but when I'm talking about a fashion designer or lecturing them about how to make a dress, it sometimes puts them to sleep," Martinez says. "They want to make stuff. But that's not enough. The fundamentals [are] not always the most exciting part of any subject, but you have to learn it before you can do it."](https://images.ajc.com/resizer/v2/4SXI5NMELCQYTURE4UQNOR4PJM.jpg?auth=1b0bab5ebf8fd2f155b6e243d6727482374ca5185baf14ed485f72ed5ceae35a&width=3840&height=2573&smart=true)
