A couple from Arizona wins a KB home in Fairburn. Della Williams had entered a Martha Stewart contest.

Della Williams stacks up hats on her husband, Marion, as they begin to move into the Martha Stewart-designed home she won in Fairburn. They had just attended closing for the house Thursday.

When Martha Stewart announced the contest for a home in one of the special joint-venture communities she designed for KB Home, Della Williams entered on a lark.

The $400,000 KB Home dwelling is in South Fulton's Hampton Oaks subdivision. Della Williams is a retired librarian from Arizona. The couple will keep a home back there.

After considering the options, the Williamses chose the Lily Pond design inspired by Stewart's Long Island beach cottage. In addition to the distinctive Stewart touches such as carriage doors on the garage, roomy closets, open shelving and glass-front cabinets, the Lily Pond features shake siding, built-in bookcases, window seats and painted trim.

Della Williams knew from the start that she would choose a home in Atlanta. Although they could have chosen any of 10 Martha Stewart communities now sprouting from North Carolina to California, the couple had become fond of the city while their daughter was a student at Spelman College.
