Author Susan Cottrell at St. Mark: FreedHearts blogger and author Susan Cottrell will be the guest speaker on a program from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 781 Peachtree St. N.E. She will speak on resolving the tension between parenting, Christianity and the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. There will be a break for refreshments and follow-ups with support groups from 4 to 5 p.m. Cottrell will speak as part of the regular PFLAG meeting, which is held the third Sunday of each month. Lunch 'N' Learn: Rabbi Binyomin Friedman from Congregation Ariel will be the featured speaker during the Lunch 'N' Learn program from noon to 1 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta at Zaban Park, 5342 Tilly Mill Road. The series features various metro Atlanta rabbis who share their perspectives on various topics. "The Value of Being Judged: What We Gain From the High Holiday Experience." Shri Krishna Janmashtami: The Radha Madhav Society will host the annual Shri Krishna Janmashtami festival, which is held in observance of the birthday of the Hindu deity Lord Krishna. The festival, which will include food, music and a cultural program, will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight Aug. 28 at the American Legion, 2760 Duluth Highway 120 in Duluth.
