Artists Brian Jackson and Mark Adams will perform a tribute to musical legends Gil Scott-Heron and Roy Ayers during a show Tuesday at City Winery.
The show is called “Recollections: A Tribute to Roy Ayers & Gil Scott-Heron, featuring Brian Jackson and Mark Adams.”
Jackson, a musician, composer, singer and producer, and Scott-Heron were early collaborators.
Scott-Heron, a musician, poet and author, died in 2011 at age 62. His music and writings were known for tackling such hot-button topics as race, class, culture and politics.
Adams, a jazz and soul pianist, has worked for years with the award-winning Ayers. He tours regularly throughout the U.S. and in Europe, Cuba, South Africa and Australia. He has also toured with many artists including Ron Carter, Ronnie Laws, Hugh Masekela, Bobbie Humphrey, Angela Bofil, Jon Lucien, Lonnie Liston Smith and Maysa.
