History: The Atlanta Women's Foundation (AWF) was founded in 1998 to be a "catalyst for change" by educating, convening and funding local nonprofits that help women and girls living in poverty overcome barriers to success.
Did you know: Since its founding, AWF has supported more than 300 nonprofit organizations in metro Atlanta with more than $17 million in funding. Last year AWF granted a record $1.2 million to local nonprofits in its five-county region, which helped more than 8,000 women and hundreds of teenage girls. AWF also trained 250 women last year in board governance and community leadership through its Women in Board and Inspire Atlanta programs.
Its motto: "We strive to ensure that all women and girls in metro Atlanta live safe, economically self-sufficient, successful lives."
