The DeKalb Community Service Board will host its the 9th Annual Walk of HEROes Sept. 19 in on the Decatur Square downtown.
The 5k, which kicks off at 8 a.m., honors those battling developmental disabilities and behavioral health illnesses and is a major fundraiser for the Brighter DeKalb Foundation, a non-profit founded by the DeKalb CSB.
DeKalb CSB is a public, non-profit that provides a wide range of evidence-based behavioral health and developmental disability services. Through more than 20 locations across DeKalb County, the agency serves more than 10,000 children, adolescents and adults annually to help them recover and resume productive lives.
The Walk of HEROes supports the National Recovery Month initiative to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use issues. Funds raised support the services provided by the DeKalb Community Service Board to those underinsured and uninsured in the DeKalb community.
