Fashion powerhouses Adidas and Gucci have collaborated on a retro collection and the internet has lost its collective mind. The collection dropped Tuesday, and items are already making their way into the wardrobes of some notable celebrities.
“Designed by Creative Director Alessandro Michele, adidas x Gucci merges the emblems of the House with those of the iconic sportswear brand,” Gucci said on its website. “The collection expands on the sartorial streetwear creations with a spectrum of sport-inspired pieces in which the heritage of both brands is encoded in a trio of lines.”
Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele first unveiled the Adidas x Gucci fall/winter 2022 collection at the Italian fashion house’s Exquisite Gucci show during Milan Fashion Week, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Priced from $130 to $3,000, the ‘70s-inspired lineup features sportswear and athleisure attire.
While the collection is currently available in select stores and online, additional pieces are expected to be revealed throughout the year.
Some of the lineup’s most fashionable items include tailored tracksuits, oversized hoodies, t-shirt dresses, Gazelle sneakers and Studio 54-ready jacquard safari suits. Pop icon Harry Styles has been making waves for sporting the lineup’s Gucci Adidas Gazelles, undoubtedly making them a hot market item on release day.
The music wonder is not the only celebrity rocking a new look. Philadelphia 76ers’ James Harden was spotted sporting Gucci trousers, GG-embossed leather sneakers and a leather duffle bag at the 2022 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Model and British actor Jodie Turner-Smith was spotted heading to the Met Gala after party wearing an Adidas x Gucci dress. According to Gucci, the dress’ style was inspired by an archival dress created in collaboration with designer Laura Whitcomb in 1993.
David Banda wore an Adidas x Gucci dress while attending the WBA World Lightweight Championship in New York with his mother Madonna. Gucci described it as a “past-meets-present moment,” as the dress was inspired by a similar piece worn by Madonna in 1993.
