This ‘Zillow Gone Wild’ home has its own secret lair

‘Do you love Natural Bridge Caverns?’

Caverns of the Southeast

From the outside, this San Antonio home looks luxurious, but quite tame. Passersby would never know the wonders that hide beneath — a deep, natural cavern just below the deck in the backyard.

Listed on Zillow at $875,000, the Texas house features four bedrooms and three bathrooms across its 2,745 square feet of living space. The main attraction, of course, is just beyond in the back.

“Do you love Natural Bridge Caverns?” the listing said. “If so, take a look at this one-of-a-kind park like property. This must-see property boasts a cavern of its own.”

According to Zillow, over $87,000 was spent excavating, lighting and improving the natural cavern that exists on the 2.56-acre lot, which has been turned into a “one-of-a-kind park like property” with oak, magnolia and mountain laurel trees. Built in 2006, the home features a large family room with a fireplace, an eat-in kitchen with oak cabinets and a walk-in pantry, a formal dining area and an attached garage.

If the park-like features in the backyard are not enough, the home is also surrounded by 3,500 acres of Nature Conservancy land.

The property also has a gazebo and a picnic area for afternoon lounging in the summers.

Opening the door on the deck reveals stairs and railing that descend into the Earth, offering passage to the mysterious natural cavern below. Dazzled with an array of mineral formations, stalactites litter the ceiling of the cave. To discover what else the secret lair holds, curious homeowners will have to make an offer.
