Fans of Betty White can now get an intimate look at the seaside escape that she and husband Allen Ludden custom built. The California house is now listed for $7.9 million.

The three-story midcentury vacation home in Carmel, California, was designed by architect Richard Hicks and built on land purchased by the couple in 1978, according to Today. Their dream project was completed three years later in 1981, the same year Ludden tragically passed away from stomach cancer.

White continued to enjoy the beachfront home until her death last year at the age of 99.

“As revered as Betty White’s public image was in real life, she was a private person,” Sotheby’s International Realty’s Nicole Truszkowski said in a statement. “Betty’s home in Carmel was her special sanctuary, and it was one of her favorite places to recharge and rejuvenate.”

The four-bedroom, 3,621-square-foot house situated on luxurious Ribera Road offers panoramic views of Point Lobos Nature Reserve, Ribera Beach and Monastery Beach from nearly every room.

While the ocean waves and lush garden decks outside the home are breathtaking, the home’s pristine interiors are just as special.

“Spending time in Carmel was one of Betty’s favorite things to do,” Truszkowski said. “She enjoyed many treasured moments with her family and close friends. The home embodies the spirit of Betty and Allen, it was eloquently understated with the focus on nature and the natural beauty surrounding the home.”
