One of Macon’s grandest residences is for sale and looking for its dream resident.
Built in 1946 on a 16-acre plot, the mansion has been added onto multiple times over the years, and now boasts over 16,000 square feet. A separate garage, pavilion and chapel were built, as well as a swimming pool and tennis courts, according to the home’s listing.
The home is located at 1386 Waverland Drive in a single-family residential neighborhood next to the Masonic Children’s Home.
The mansion has fireplaces in each of its five bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, a modern kitchen with a Wolf gas oven and double stove and ten fireplaces throughout.
The owner’s suite is based on King Louis’ bedroom in Versailles and features fresco ceilings, the home’s current owner, Wes Hardin, told WMAZ. Hardin also noted that the 16,000-square-foot home is lined with green marble floors.
“The marble here was quarried from the same one where Michelangelo got his from Italy,” Hardin told the news outlet.
According to the listing, the mansion has the “largest private Chinese garden outside of China and the largest residential fountain system in the U.S.” The home also features a replica of the Forbidden City, a Chinese-themed entertaining room, a ballet studio, Koi ponds, a reflection temple area and a ballroom with a walk-out veranda.
