Tennis star Naomi Osaka, 25, revealed that she’s expecting her first child with boyfriend Cordae.
The message is penned in both English and in Japanese and is a reflection on how Osaka plans to tackle the future. In addition to becoming a mother, Osaka also plans to return to tennis in 2024 for the Australian open.
“The past few years have been interesting to say the least,” said Osaka on an Instagram post “One thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘that’s my mom’.”
Osaka and Grammy-nominated rapper Cordae have been an item since 2019, though they initially kept their relationship under wraps. In an interview with GQ Magazine, Cordae explained why the two don’t post about their relationship on social media.
“We were dating for almost a year before people knew about us. We don’t really post intimate moments, because I feel as though they’re sacred. Once you let outside influences get into it, it becomes less sacred,” he said.
While the duo prepare for a baby, they continue to work on their projects while moving forward with “good intentions.”
“I don’t think there’s a perfectly correct path to take in life but I always felt that if you move forward with good intentions you’ll find your way eventually,” Osaka said.
