Rapper Kodak Black, a Florida native, is giving back to his community in a major way.

In the midst of Hurricane Ian causing so much uncertainty for the east coast, the “Super Gremlin” rapper is easing the minds of 28 families by paying their rent through the rest of the year.

Black broke the good news on his Instagram story, saying “28 families was bout to get evicted for being behind on their rent a few months,” Kodak wrote.

Families living at Merry Place Housing Projects in West Pam Beach get the rent break via the Zachariah McQueen Foundation, costing the rapper around $88,902.80 according to XXL Magazine.

Black has been in the news for less positive reasons in the past years, pleading guilty in a sexual assault case for which he spent time in jail. He was also arrested in Florida on drug charges. Since then, he’s been focusing on good deeds.

Black donated to the college funds of a police officer’s daughter after her father died. He also donated to the families of two Pennsylvania State Police troopers who were killed by drink drivers earlier this year.
