When Chris Evans bid farewell to playing Captain America back in 2018, he had fans feeling all the feels.

Twitter is again abuzz with rumors Evans might be picking up his vibranium shield once again.

“It’s still vague whether the deal is closed, but insiders say it’s headed in that direction for Evans to return as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in at least one Marvel property, with the door open for a second film,” Deadline reported Thursday. “Sources add it’s unlikely to be a new ‘Captain America’ installment and more likely to be like what Robert Downey Jr. did after ‘Iron Man 3,’ appearing in such films as ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming.’”

But are the rumors true? Evans tweeted that Deadline’s story was “News to me,” with a shrugging shoulders emoji.

Not everyone was buying it, however, including actress Jamie Lee Curtis.

Evans replied, “It’s going in the contracts x.”

Fans of the actor and the superhero appeared to support the idea.

But others weren’t having it.

You might recall that Steve Rogers passed the shield to Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, at the end of “Avengers: Endgame.”

And still others don’t believe Evans’ tweet.

Whether Evans is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — and to Atlanta, considering many of MCU movies were filmed here — might remain a mystery, but the actor appreciated the responses from fans.
