Veterans Day Tribute: 4 ways to have the best weekend in North Fulton

From poetry to wine tasting, North Fulton has the makings of a memorable weekend.

Honor and celebrate veterans this Friday at the Alpharetta Veterans Day Tribute taking place at Brooke Street Park. This year's event will feature Mayor David Belle Isle and former state commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Georgia, Al Lipphardt. The Alpharetta High School Quartet will perform, followed by an invocation, Armed Forces Medley, Posting of the Colors, National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, Laying of the Wreath, 21-Gun Salute and the playing of "Taps."

Enjoy the fantastic weather out there while sampling some of the best wine in the South at the Grandiose Grape Wine Festival happening this Saturday in Roswell. Featuring live music, food from The Mill Kitchen and Bar and over 100 different wines, there's a little something for every palate out there. Proceed will benefit the Drake House of Roswell and The Chattahoochee Nature Center.

The annual Johns Creek Poetry Festival for Teens and Adults will take place this Saturday at the Northeast Spruill Oaks Library, and will feature interactive workshops, presentations and more. Workshops include "Poems and the Spoken Word," led by poet Rupert Fike, and "Grammar: The Way to Intensity in Poems," led by poet Ginger Murchison.

Listen to renowned harpist Lisa Handman as she performs a wide range of musical styles, including classical, Celtic, Broadway, Jewish, New Age, religious and popular genres. Call to register for this free, not-to-miss event, which takes place at the Northeast Spruill Oaks Library on Sunday.
