From solemn ceremonies and swing music to informational workshops and even free meals, Veterans Day events in Gwinnett County celebrate and commemorate those who serve and have served in the armed forces. Join your neighbors in paying tribute to U.S. veterans at one of these observances:
Lawrenceville
Annual Veterans Day ceremony – 11 a.m. Nov. 11
Gwinnett Fallen Heroes Memorial, on the grounds of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center

The public is invited to attend this annual observance to pay tribute to the men and women who have served in the military. Dr. Stanley Preczewski, president of Georgia Gwinnett College and retired U.S. Army colonel, will be the keynote speaker, and Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash and other officials will make remarks. Lilburn
Veterans Day celebration – 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 8

The ceremony honors local veterans. Afterward, the Continental Dance Orchestra will perform swing music and patriotic favorites. Attendees can visit with representatives from the Gwinnett County Veterans Memorial Museum, Soldier's Connection, American Legion Post 232, VFW Post 5255 and Pets for Vets. Guests are encouraged to bring their worn, tattered and damaged American flags to the event for proper retirement. More information here.
Loganville
Veterans information workshop – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14

Loganville's American Legion post will host a second veterans information workshop to provide information and assistance to veterans and their families. Representatives from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Georgia Department of Veterans Service and other organizations will be on hand to provide information and assistance. Snellville
Veterans Day Memorial celebration – 7 p.m. Nov. 11
Snellville Veterans Memorial, City Hall, 2342 Oak Road, Snellville, GA 30078

Snellville will honor veterans and those currently serving in the armed forces with a ceremony and tile installation. About 12 new tiles will be added to the memorial, including one for David Wyatt, one of four U.S. Marines slain in Chattanooga earlier this year. At the end of the ceremony, the city will have a balloon launch containing the names of Snellville veterans.

Applebee's restaurants
Applebee's restaurants will offer free meals for veterans and active-duty service members. The free meals are part of the chain's Thank You Movement.
