The Bronner Business Institute presents a special Black History Month Networking Event (Austell)
6 p.m. Fri., Feb. 9. Free. Riverside EpiCenter. 135 Riverside Pkwy, Austell. Event details at events.accessatlanta.com/network. The Institute, along with the Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral will be screening a new documentary, "Black Friday:  What Legacy Will You Leave?" The film looks at the spending and saving habits of African-Americans and how to best invest that money in families and communities. Afterwards, a panel including the filmmakers will discuss the film and answer questions from the audience. There will also be a vendor marketplace.

Macy's Lenox Black History Month Celebration (Buckhead)
7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12. Free. Macy's Lenox Square. 3393 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta. Event details at events.accessatlanta.com/macys. Want to know who are the new rising stars in the African-American cultural community? Come hear actors Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Taye Diggs, along with Chef G. Garvin and artist and children's book illustrator Shane Evans share their insights. A reception follows.

1st Annual APEX Pyramid Awards (downtown Atlanta)
5 p.m. (VIP Mixer), 6 p.m. (General Admission). Sat., Feb. 27. $50 (VIP), $25 (General). Georgia Pacific Building Auditorium. 133 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta. Event details at events.accessatlanta.com/apex. This event will honor people and groups prominent in African-American history as well as right now. It's also an entertainment showcase featuring R&B singer Claudette King (one of BB's daughters) and others. As if that wasn't enough it's also a fundraiser for Atlanta's APEX Museum just a few blocks away on Auburn Ave. (APEX stands for African American Panoramic Experience).
