When her boyfriend Steve was diagnosed with ALS, Hope Dezember, 30, didn’t walk away … she married him. This Sunday, Santa’s Workshop in Norcross is teaming up with “Hope for Steve” for a day of holiday cheer and festive gifts, all for a good cause.

"Hope for Steve" is a documentary that follows Alpharetta couple Hope and Steve Dezember's journey from his ALS diagnosis to their wedding to present day, with all of the triumphant ups and heart-wrenching downs.

Also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, ALS is an incurable disorder that attacks the nerve cells that control voluntary movement.

What originally started out as a five-minute ALS-awareness video turned into a full-fledged documentary thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign. For more about "Hope for Steve," go to www.hopeforsteve.com.

Santa’s Workshop, a decorator’s showcase and market filled with intricate decor and special holiday gifts handcrafted by local artisans, is opening its doors to “Hope for Steve” this Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids with 100 percent of the ticket proceeds benefiting “Hope for Steve” and the ALS Therapy Development Institute.

Santa's Workshop will be 1-6 p.m. Sunday at the Rectory, 17 College St., Norcross. After Sunday, Santa's Workshop will continue to be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 21, with ticket proceeds benefiting Habitat for Humanity.
