Get ready to thumb through a collection of the finest dad sweaters, high-waisted jeans and even —potentially —a rare Jeff Buckley LP or two, Atlanta hipsters.
Hipster Yard Sale ATL will return bright and early Saturday, Oct. 22, to Chapel Hill Park, 3985 Lehigh Blvd Decatur, according to the event's Facebook page. The yard sale's return comes a few weeks after parking issues led to DeKalb Police Department shutting the event down.
According to an August Facebook page post:
Hipster Yard Sale was shut down by the cops today. The major reason? People were parking their cars in yards along Rainbow Drive. We definitely understand why they shut it down, if people are parking in the yards of private citizens.
So, what does a hipster yard sale entail, you ask?
Organizers say the typical yard sale fare of lamps sans light bulbs, books and old clothes will be on display, but to kick the hipster barometer up a notch, the yard sale will also include "vintage clothing, vinyl records, art, and any manner of esoteric ephemera."
Translation: everything your heart desires.
The daylong event, which begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, will also feature musical performances.
Those interested in selling their art, clothing and other goods can still register as a vendor for $50, which will benefit the the the non-profit Friends of Chapel Hill Park in its efforts to build a fishing pier at the park.
