Cyclists came out in droves to party and ride under the stars during the 5th Annual Atlanta Moon Ride Friday at Piedmont Park.

More than 5,000 eager and vibrantly dressed bikers flooded the park for the pre-party in the great outdoors before beginning their 6-mile bike ride through Midtown.

During the kick off bash, cover band Electric Avenue performed big 1980s' hits for the crowd while they got their tastes of King of Pops and Tito's Handmade Vodka. Attendees dressed up for a chance to win the Atlanta Moon Ride costume contest. The lucky cyclist with the most eye-catching costume was a gentleman dressed as a NASA astronaut. He rode away with an all-expenses paid trip to Destin, Florida, on a private jet.

All proceeds from Friday's ride went to Bert's Big Adventure, which is an Atlanta based nonprofit that sends children with chronic and terminal illnesses to Walt Disney World.
